Port Orange - Theresa A. Silliker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 27th, 2022 at the age of 89 in Port Orange, FL. Theresa was born on October 3, 1933 in Cambridge, MA to Robert Wilson and Regina (Fitzpatrick) Wilson. At a young age, she moved with her family to Billerica. She attended school in Billerica and graduated from Howe High School in 1951. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, John J. Silliker, Jr. Theresa married John on July 4, 1954 and remained married to him for 68 years. Together they raised their six children. Theresa was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a strong matriarch who, in her early years, made raising her family a priority. Her desire to be in charge was always tempered by her common sense, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She enjoyed sewing for her children, hooking rugs, summer camping with her family, knitting sweaters on her famous knitting machine, and having daily afternoon tea with her friends and neighbors. In her retirement years, she split her time between Massachusetts and Florida. She enjoyed trips, cruises, visiting casinos, playing bingo, and bowling. She also loved to paint and crochet mats for the homeless. Theresa was preceded in death by both her parents, her sister Alice M. Cushman, her brother James E. Wilson, and her daughter-in-law Tracey Silliker. She is survived by her loving husband, John, her six children; Richard J. Silliker, Maureen J. Small (Mark), MaryJane Ringwood (John), Kathleen A. Ingaharro (Francis), William J. Silliker (Meg), Patricia J. Vardaro, Japanese exchange student, Hideki Yoshizawa, whom she thought of as another son, and her brothers, Robert Wilson, Jr. and Paul Wilson. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. January 7, 2023 at Saint John The Baptist Church, 52 Main St., Essex, MA. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Theresa's name.
